Shame on me, of course, for linking to The Daily Mail, but I do find it interesting that Romanian children ranked highest (out of 16 countries worldwide) as the “happiest”.
Far more significant (to me) is that Romanian children also ranked highest in terms of satisfaction in the way they look. One of the saddest epidemics to strike both the UK and the USA is self-image issues that begin in childhood, which often end up very difficult to overcome in adulthood.

I had to dig around to find the original report that led to the Daily Mail blathering on about the state of misery in the UK but I do see that a total of 17,000 children were interviewed for a philanthropic organization’s poll.
If you’re interested in seeing the original report (in PDF format), click here. There you can learn that only parts of Poland (which ranked #2 in most of the categories) were polled and other relevant facts such as the questionnaire used emojis :P
Definitely interesting. I’m not quite sure what the United Nations will do with this information but it certainly comes across as an authentic piece of positive news about Romania.
Cool!
Love this positive article!! I can’t wait to work with the children there! :)
