What I Miss Most About Romania

The “Sit Around” was, in reality, a way for the whole village to come together and for young bachelors to look for a bride. Likewise, for the older members of the community, the “Sit Around” was a time to pass the time having fun, teaching the youth traditional skills and how to transform work into something that’s a pleasure.

Recas Winery

What happens when you send an Irishman to visit the Recas Winery? Why, he gets drunk of course… on the beautiful scenery! Well, that and the wine :P Tip: make sure you eat something before you go there, because they will literally make you taste their wine as soon as you arrive on their premises……

Literally the Best Photo Ever

Today is Romanian Culture day, and by pure coincidence (or not?), the official police Facebook account posted this photo of a cop rescuing Eminescu. I still can’t stop laughing :-)

Two Men Working Four Men Watching

I’m a big fan of Twitter and the awesomest local news producer “Stiri de Cluj” bleeps across my timeline when something happens. Holy shit a bridge collapsed! A building blew up on the first cold day of the year And many, many more like that. And every time you know that it’s not terrorism, it’s…

Two for One Special

After watching a documentary about junk mail in Britain I was reminded that the problem is equally bad in the United States, Canada and many other countries….
