Hey folks, sorry I’ve been “gone” so much these past few days. Honestly, I’m about burned out on all of the 50 other projects I’ve got going on other than this blog. I love talking and writing about Romanian stuff and, if it were up to me, I’d be doing it every day :)
Nonetheless, thought I’d post this picture that I took a few days ago. Last Sunday (March 27), there was a huge rally in support of the official campaign to Unify with Romania, scheduled for completion at the end of 2018. I’ve got all kinds of interesting campaign literature to share with you and dissect, but it’ll have to wait for now.
In the meantime, the pro-independence folks held a counter demonstration. The image you see is from their camp although I found it a few miles away from where the demonstrations took place. Although it doesn’t say who posted it, it’s clearly in response to something I wrote about back in January, referring to the legal technicality that allows Romanian cops (gendarmes) to assist Moldova in cases of an emergency.
Figurative translation: Romanian cops will never be welcome in Moldova
Literal translation: The Romanian gendarme will not be master/boss of us
Considering how criminally stupid the Romanian police are, I definitely agree with the poster.
Hang in there, more posts to come soon!
To me, it sounds like a result of the post WWII Russian propaganda. The Romanian gendarme was a symbol what they called “the Romanian imperialism”. Too sad…
