I kept the receipt precisely so I could calculate the price. The oranges were 1.25 lei a kilo (16 US cents/lb) and the grapefruit was 5.79 lei a kilo (79 US cents/lb). Mind you, these are both imported fruits!

Yeah, with these prices it’s so hard to be so “poor” in Romania! How can anyone survive?
