Following up on yesterday’s post, I came across an article (unfortunately not online) with some wonderful news. The city of Cluj-Napoca is once again going to offer free bike rentals (also known in English as “bike sharing”).
This program is the brainchild of Asociatia Green Revolution (Ro) and I’m quite happy to see they’re doing something similar in Brasov, Iasi and Bucharest as well. Wow, awesome!
I also came across this post (Ro) describing how the city of Sibiu is planning a major expansion of bike lanes in that city. Cluj-Napoca itself has quite a network of bicycle lanes already in place. You can see a map of these here (PDF).
Wonderful, wonderful stuff. Definitely am glad to see this here in my country! :)
Brasov has 2 big bike sharing programs. One for students which offers bikes in the campus and downtown and one for the locals which offers bikes downtown (of course… you can go wherever you want but you have to bring them back downtown)
