Word of the Day: Fustangiu


Well here’s a word you don’t hear too often in a newspaper but is easy enough to parse out once you think about it a moment – fustangiu (fooz-tawn-jew).

Coming from a modification of the word fusta (skirt), this is a noun that is exactly equivalent to the English noun skirt chaser.

The “angiu” part is an old Romanian root that is used as to indicate people who work in certain professions, such as a hangiu (innkeeper), the person running a han (inn).
