Your Tax Dollars at Work

Trigger warning: if discussion about the Russian language threatens your self-identity, stop reading now!

Few Romanians know that their tax dollars have been paying to broadcast news in the Russian language since 1975. Yes, you read that right.

They’re all making fun of you!

Radio Romania International, a state-funded broadcaster operating out of Bucharest had been treacherously providing news content in English, French, Serbian, Arabic, Spanish, Italian, German, (Mandarin) Chinese, Ukrainian, Aromanian, and Russian for more than 40 years.

Originally solely a radio broadcaster, today, Radio Romania International also provides written news published on its website and various social media channels.

And look, they even want you to give their vKontakte page a “like”. Don’t they know that VK is a propaganda arm of the KGB??

Even worse, here is their mission statement:

Мы надеемся, что наши передачи помогают нам лучше узнать друг друга, способствуя тем самым сближению между нашими народами.

In case your Russian is a little rusty, this translates to, “We hope that our programs help all of us to get to know one another better, thereby promoting rapprochement and better understanding between our peoples.

Fucking hippies!

Clearly, the government’s money would be better spent on missiles, tanks, and guns, am I right?
