One interesting and true thing you’ll always hear foreigners say is how damned delicious tomatoes are in Romania.
It’s true. And what’s even more delicious are the ones you grow in your own window :)
For growing tomatoes you need quite a big pot with good soil, and a lot of sun. Otherwise, Romanian or not, they’ll be just sour, (or tasteless at best).
When visiting a family’s small plot of subsistence gardening in Transylvania, i was amazed at how many American-origin crops they had, which they considered staples: potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, sunflower, corn, squash, and beans. Only the turkeys were missing from the picture! Even the feared pest was the Colorado bug… Long live the Columbian Exchange…
