  1. again, way too general and, at least when it comes to Romania, it’s nothing compared to what failure is considered in other cultures. take the Asian cultures, for example, it’s cruel … in Romania, it depends on the context. i think fear of failure sets up some sort of competitiveness, at least when we talk about education. the “no child left behind” concept in the US public schools, for example, tends to bring the standards so low, it’s unbelievable. by this, kids are told: “it’s ok to fail, we will make sure you are not going to be excluded”.
    the bad thing in this whole thing are all the innapropriate shortcuts certain individuals take in order to succeed (I call it avoiding the apparent failure, it’s a fake success). that’s the real problem!
